Pay attention to Red Flag Warnings announcing the potential for extreme fire risk. Never mow or trim dry grass on a Red Flag Warning Day. 2. Help children play safely at playgrounds. Prevent children from walking in front of swings and pushing or crowding around popular play features. 3. Criminals don’t take a summer break. Always activate your home alarm system and report suspicious activity to 911. 4. Properly equip yourself and family members for active sports. Always wear a helmet when bicycling, skateboarding, or participating in any wheeled activity. 5. Be mindful of triple digit weather. Stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day to avoid heat- related illnesses. Make the most of this summer by following these tips! ** When to Call 911 ** Residents who call 911 to report suspicious activity can help the Sheriff’s Office catch criminals and stop crime. Be sure to immediately call 911 to report alarm activations, glass breaking, vehicles driving at night with lights off, strangers entering side yards, people in a parked vehicle for an extended amount of time, or anything that feels unusual for your neighborhood. Avoid activities that may cause a fire, such as driving over dry grass or tossing lit cigarette butts into vegetation.
