HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-10-2020 Parks & Recreation Commission Minutes 1 City of Saratoga Parks and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes DATE: Tuesday, March 10, 2020 TIME: 6:30 p.m. LOCATION: Linda Callon Conference Room – New Location 13777 Fruitvale Avenue Saratoga, CA 95070 Call to Order at 6:34 p.m. Present: Commissioners Ping Li, Rick Pearce and Terry Ward. Staff present – Public Works Director, John Cherbone; Analyst, Kristin Borel; Assistant City Manager, Crystal Bothelio; and Public Information Officer, Lauren Pettipiece Commissioners Absent: Renee Paquier and Sandy Muju (resigned) Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this meeting was properly posted on March 4, 2020. Kristin Borel reports Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2. Accept items, Approved 3-0. Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. No written communication, one public speaker requesting a Pickleball court Approval of Parks and Recreation Commission Draft Minutes: • January 14, 2020. Approved 3-0 Agenda: 1. Movie Night Crystal Bothelio reviewed the plans for the three Movie Night events. The Commissioners chose the movies for July and August. The Commission will follow up with ideas for the Movie Night Parks and Recreation Commission table. 2. Parks Survey Discussion Lauren Pettipiece presented the Commission with survey Best Practices and Draft Questions. The Commission will review and finalize the survey at the next meeting. 3. City Parks Map Lauren Pettipiece discussed the development of a Saratoga Parks map. The Commission gave input and Lauren will work with a designer and present a draft at the next meeting. 2 4. Historic Plaque Program The Commission made the decision to research the historical background of Kevin Moran Park and Congress Springs Park first. It is anticipated that the Commission could research two parks each year. 5. Blossom Festival Participation The Commission would like to participate in the Blossom Festival with a table highlighting City Parks, the Let’s Work Program, Quarry Park, Movie Nights, Saratoga to Skyline Trail, Friendship Park, and coloring pages for kids.
