RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
TO ALLOCATE FUNDING FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS USING CARES
ACT FUNDING
WHEREAS, non-profit community organizations have been impacted by State of
California and County of Santa Clara health order restrictions that have been adopted to prevent
the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since March 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Saratoga Area Senior Coordinating Council (SASCC), the Hakone
Foundation, the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, and West Valley Community Services have
experienced severe losses in revenue with no comparable reduction in costs during the economic
downturn; and
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the need to aid the organizations that have a
profound impact on the City of Saratoga community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga received an allocation as a result of the Coronavirus
Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed in March 2020 and CARES Act funds
may be used to support local non-profit organizations providing community services such as
those provided by SASCC, the Hakone Foundation, the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, and
West Valley Community Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
hereby approves a grant of $10,000 each to the four organizations listed below using CARES Act
funding and the following adjustments to the Fiscal Year 2020/21 Operating Budget:

The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga
City Council held on the 4th day of November 2020 by the following vote:
