Online Art Challenge Subcommittee Minutes Recommended Action: Review and approve the draft minutes for the June 27, 2022 Online Art Challenge Subcommittee meeting. WU/KAR MOVED TO APPROVE THE DRAFT MINUTES FOR THE JUNE 27, 2022 ONLINE ART CHALLENGE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING. MOTION PASSED. AYES: KAR, WU. NOES: NONE. ABSTAIN: NONE. ABSENT: NONE. 2. Online Art Challenge Recommended Action: Finalize monthly themes for the Online Art Challenge, discuss concerns relating to submittal of progress photos, and develop a plan for recruitment of outside panel of judges. The Committee agreed to limit submissions to final pieces, instead of accepting submittal of progress photos, to avoid any confusion. Commissioner Gloria Wu proposed an online exhibit for artwork. Vice Chair Sohini Kar agreed that the art could be exhibited through an online gallery. Commissioner Gloria Wu added that an event in February could be held in February via Zoom to showcase contest finalists. For now, the committee agreed to wait on providing any details about how artwork would be exhibited. The committee agreed that there should be judges for each of the Online Art Challenge categories: photography, fine arts, video. The committee agreed that ideally judges wou ld participate throughout the program, meeting in November, December, and January to select monthly prize winners and the grand prize winners at the end of the contest. The committee suggested that the judges receive a certificate from the Mayor for volunteering their time. The committee agreed to meet again to review judge applications.
