Chair Boyce-Bender called the meeting to order at 8:47 AM
3.Roll Call
Present: Sharon Boyce-Bender, Zhen Li, and Priya Shastri
Absent: Margarete Minar
Staff: Nicole Johnson, Senior Planner
4.Oral Communications
5.Approval of the May 9, 2023 minutes
SHASTRI/LI MOVED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES FOR THE MAY 9, 2023 MEETING.
MOTION PASSED. AYES: BOYCE-BENDER, LI, SHASTRI. NOES: NONE. ABSENT: MINAR.
ABSTAIN: NONE
6.New Business
a.Saratoga Jail research update
The commissioners discussed their research on the Saratoga Jail. Shastri
stated that jail location seems valid. Boyce-Bender stated she has spoken to
several people about the jail. Shastri stated that she will speak with the SHF
and will report back for the July HPC meeting.
b.Summer Movie Nights
The commission discussed hosting a table at summer movie nights. Boyce-
Bender can not attend. The commission decided that they will not host a
table, and asked that a QR code be created to inform people about the
history of the heritage orchard.
c.Heritage Orchard signage
The commission discussed placing signage in the orchard that identifies the
types of trees that are in the orchard.
d.Heritage Orchard Tour

The HPC toured the Heritage Orchard with the City Orchardist.
7. Staff Comments
Staff discussed a summer recess for the HPC. The commission discussed a summer
recess in August and September.
