Dear Mr.Trinidad, Attached are signed petitions from the residents of Douglass Lane and the surrounding neighborhood that includes the following streets: Douglass Lane, Black Walnut Court, Minocqua Court, Kenosha Court, Nutwood Lane, Toas Drive and Donna Lane. To be precise, one hundred and six (106) tax paying residents, representing 100% of the households in this residential neighborhood, are in direct opposition to Douglass Lane being included in the Recreational Trail Plan in the Saratoga Master Plan for the Parks and Recreational Department. As residents of Saratoga we do not feel that this type of Recreational Trail in a quiet, serene, residential neighborhood is appropriate for this area. This Recreational Trail would be detrimental to the area and would impact our homes in a negative manner. We the petitioners, aze adamant that this 100% solidarity against the project demonstrates that we fully expect and demand that you, our duly represented city officials, respond and support our petition to remove Douglass Lane from the Recreational Trail Master Plan Map for the City of Saratoga. Sincerely yours, ~ Lydia Norcia omenic Norcia 14400 Nutwood Lane Sazatoga, CA 95070 Representatives of the entire neighborhood. cc: Karen Anderson, Harry Peacock, Ann Marie Burger, Willem Kohler, Victor Monia. GARY PASTRE & SALLY STREAM 14230 DOUGLASS LANE SARATOGA, CA 95070 March 19, 1993 Dear Park and Recreation Commission members, We were surprised at the resistance to the construction of the Carnelian Glen Trail at the hearing you held last month and decided to see if there were others in the community who felt as we do, that the trail should be built. So we set out to collect a few signatures. Enclosed are the results of our very limited efforts . (Boy Scout trips and other vacations prevented our collecting more...) You'll find 60 signatures on these petitions from the ranks of jog-. gers, mothers with baby strollers, and recreational walkers. We urge you to continue work on this trail. We also asked petition signers if they were in favor of the Douglass Lane Trail. We've enclosed that petition as well. Thanks for your work, Sally Stream We, the undersigned, urge the Saratoga Park and Recreation Commission to construct the city trail along the city easement, and thus connect Douglass Lane to Carnelian Glen. Completion of this trail would add another link to our city's .growing trail system, allowing us to enjoy the heritage of our rural setting on foot. This particular trail would also fulfill the wish of Mrs . Pace whose pear orchard became today's Carnelian Glen. Prior to the development of Carnelian Glen, Douglass Lane residents walked through Mrs . Pace's or- chard to the village. Children biked and walked through it to get to Red- wood School. This right-of-way would have had continued use had the city trail been constructed.
