Volunteer Kathy Gilbert reviewed the goals and
purpose of the survey. There was discussion of
how widely it would be distributed and what the
expected outcome might be. Suggestions were
made for changing some of the language and it
was decided that the question of how much a
resident would be willing to pay should be
included. Commissioner Watkins suggested doing
some pre-survey testing, e.g. telephone
sampling, for an indication of the community's
response. The sub-committee will meet again
September 7 at 4:00 p.m.
B. Discussion of Exterior Lighting
Staff Representative Carolyn King reviewed
previous discussions on the subject of
additional exterior lighting for the library.
The consensus was to wait until after the sign
which the Rotary Club is expected to provide is
in place to determine the need for more
identification of the site at night.
C. Discussion of Memorial for Lois Thomas
There was discussion of the proposal to place a
bench in the garden with an engraved plaque.
It was decided that City staff should follow
through with the placement of a bench similar
in style to the benches currently in the
garden, and get a plaque engraved_ Once the
cast is known, City Council will be asked for
matching funds, and former Commissioners will
