Roll Call Present: Adams, Armijo, Chu, Gupta, Kuo, Loretz, Martin, Morin,oto, Ni Noonan, Orr, Wang, Wittenburg Absent: Chao, Soderman, Yamada Staff: Beverly Tucker Minutes approved by Orr I~~ Oral Communications from #~~ Public: A. Mark Chiavetta - 19548 Chardonnay Ct Robert Peck - 1402 Shadow Oaks Asked commission to change skateboard ramp proposal to rollerblade rink. Stated that they have difficulty finding safe places to skate and play hockey and are not permitted on any school grounds and Sr~eriff`s Dept, has stopped play in several street locations. III. Q],~ Business A. Committee for Community Interaction -committee is to be disolved, purpose is served. New committee has been formed to meet quarterly to coordinate all community groups so programs are shared, not duplicated and dates of activities do not conflict. B. CASA report - Fun Run is June 6, commission will be in charge of a water station IY.~ ~ A. Teen Scene at Celebrate Saratoga Street Dance Don Coulter of the Chamber of Commerce asked for suggestions for this year's teen area Suggestions were: 1. More light 2. Have Music Fest winners play at Teen Scene instead of parade 3. Move stage out towards street and enclose the parking lot so it feels smaller 1 4 . Put up a big ~ igrz so teens know tree area is for them 5. Games were debated them rejected, would take staff and deter dancing 6. Alternate bands with a D.J B. Ha.kone Festival, May 9: fund raising committee will have fish kite booth, needs people to help sew kites and work at the booth C. Warner Hutton House Report 1. Interior wall painting completed Trim will be painted by professional painter 2. Exterior will be painted by Rotary, Youth Commission will give some assistance with labor 3. School Year Hours: M, T, Th, F Middle School Only 3:30 - 6:00 p.m. W 2:30 - 6:00 p.m. W & Th High School Only 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. F 7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. 4. Grand Opening on Friday, June 5, 1992 4:00 p.m. - 7 p.m. Open House: Refreshments; entertainment, docent tours & ribbon cutting ceremony 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. High School outdoor concert & dance Y~ Committee Reports A. Will be recruiting bands for the open house D. Outdoor Recreation: 1. Yosemite trip was cancelled due to low sign-ups E. Teen Recreation: nothing to report F. Merchants 1. Will be duplicating job binder to put at schools in addition to the recreation center. 1.
