ROLL CALL PRESENT: Commissioners Buchanan, Carlson, Clawson, Leong, Rose,•Wilberding and Zambetti. ABSENT: Commissioners Gordon and Terry. II. BROOKGLEN PARK DESIGl~? AND COST ESTIMATES The Architect said that the basic plan for Brookglen Park remains the same, and that the turf areas removed will not affect its appearance from the front. Re suggested the following: 1. Change the concrete pathway to one of decomposed granite; 2. Extend the decomposed granite play area tip to the play structure area; 3. Simplify and reduce the height of the play area retaining walls from 4-feet to 3-feet; 4. Use power poles imbedded in the decomposed granite at a motorbike deterent rather than the rail fence; and 5. Light only the arbor since there will be no utilities in the rear of the park. Mr. Charles Huff asked if the decomposed granite play area could be used for games such as badmitton as well as basketball. The Secretary said that sleeves could be installed for poles used for badmitton and volleyball in the grass area. ° 1. The northeast corner be modified in order to prevent its use as an entrance to the park; 2. The 6' wood-framed chain link fence be -extended to the edge of the decomposed granite area; and 3. The front rail fence be replaced by imbedded power poles. -1- d a a The Commission felt that the park should be completed in one phase and suggested that items such as the arbor, electrical work, and the 2 X 12 headers (concrete or redwood) be bid as alternates. They also asked that: a i PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION - ADJOURNED REGULAR riEETING - JUNE 24, 1974 - Commissioner Carlson moved that the City Council be requested to go to bid on the Brookglen Park development. project with a base bid plus alternates based on the cost estimates compiled by the architect. Commissioner Zambetti seconded the motion, and it was passed unanimously. III. ADJOUR;YMENT There being no further business before the Commission, the meeting way adjourned at 8:55 P.M.
