He prefers the sc'r~ool site because if the high density on that side of Allendale and because is has better access than the others. ~~ The Commission asked that this item be 'continued to the next meeting for a final decision or, which of the possibilities they would prefer B. FREET~TOT3T HIGFI SCHOOL PARK SITE C. Cornrnissioner Terry checked the Assessor's P1aps and fotir~d that this property ha: not yet been subdivided. He felt that this area's need for a parr: could be adearaately coversd by a park on the Freemont ~ii.gh School Site. Te mentioned that the present T•iaster P]_an Map show this site as being located on an adjacent piece of private property on which there'is an existing house. He pr•cposed and the Cornlzrission agreed that this desigrnation should bA changed so as to locate, the the site on a portion of the nigh Schoc? site ad.jacec~t to thia privy property. Thies is a l~~~r-priori.ty project, and Chairman irlilberding said that the property comes-up for development soon, the ror;,misson could discuss it fur•tl~ar, but for now the designation as a possi bil.i -ty sufficient. ' Mr. Beyer said that the City has not yet decided if it wants to appeal the ~~ourt decision wi~ich allotrs the possibility of phis subdivision being built. A recent California Suprese Court decision could make it easier for the City to win the case without setting itself up for ar inverse condemnation. suit. Commissioner Terry suggested that if the garden is not corn~?atible t~ith the vray the City ~•rishes to cont~ nue Ilar,o~ie developm~rl.., ~ t might be developed'on the Nelson property currently being deeded to Nature Cons^:^vancy. Anotrier possibility t~rould be to separate the two ;gardens Gllth screening, since the idea behind the Blind Garden is t'o acquaint the blind with as many different plants as possible. Mr.jBeyer said that he would probably have some suggestions from the Japanese experts that visited Hakone earlier this summer next week. This situation has caused some residents unnecessary concern. (2) All maps should be dated e.nd. sinned so that anyone can see is it is an official map. Commissioner Terry said that the last review of the trails was ~.n 1968, ~rrhich gave only .a general location of trails. Beyer said that the acquisition of this land is currently a long- term goal dependent on the decision about how to continued developmez of the Garden. If the City decides to retain as much authenticity as possible, this iand.~,~ould probably not be needed except for some additional buffering. The Dyers ~rrould consider selling a small portion of the prcnerty .. for buffering which they also consider necessary.
