SARATOGA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
TIME: MONDAY, JULY 8, 1974 - 6:45 P.M.
PLACE: CRISP MEMORIAL CONFERENCE ROOM, SARATOGA CITY OFFICES,
13777 FRUITVALE AVENUE, SARATOGA, CALIF. 95070
TYPE: ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF JULY 1, 1974
I. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Commissioners Buchanan, Carlson, Clawson, Gordon, Leong, Terry,
Wilberding and Zambetti.
ABSENT: Commissioner Rose.
OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. Muir, Dividend Industries
II. LOCATION OF TRAIL EASEMENT -DIVIDEND INDUSTRIES, SD 1110, PACE PROPERTY
Commissioner Terry reported the results of the Saturday, July 6 field trip to those
Commissioners that were not able to make the trip. He described two basic routes
on an aerial view map he had prepared.
1. The creek route runs along the property lines, but does not run
completely to Douglass Lane. The residents along this route are
using the creek as their back yards. In order to make a trail
through this route it would take alot of cutting and leveling.
2. The second route comes along the north side of Carnelian Glen
to the cul-de-sac and continues on down to cross nine driveways.
If it was done this way a polyethylene undercoat for weeds would
have to be put down and gravel and header boards to prevent an
eye sore condition for the residents front yards. An alternative
to this would be to take the road and move it over ten feet and
take the trail along the south side of Carnelian Glen and go
through six driveways instead of nine.
III. RECOMMENDATION TO PLANNING COMMISSION
Commissioner Terry recommended that the street Carnelian Glen be relocated ten feet
to the north of its present location and that the trail be on the south side of
Carnelian Glen. The trail run from Saratoga-Los Gatos Road to the cul-de-sac to
connect with the Sanitary Sewer Easement. Instead of staying on the sewer easement
as it turns across t'he property, the trail continue to the edge of the property.
The Commission will then work with t'he owner of the Durham property for a.n easement
to Douglass Lane. Also the Park in Lieu fee be dropped.
As a second, if the road cannot be moved over to provide an additional ten feet,
then the trail be moved over to the north side of the street and the trail be ten
feet wide and have a defined edge, protection from weeds, be of gravel, and provide
for drainage.
