Bids for Brookglen Park have been received and a copy of the bid summary sheet
is enclosed for your review. I will have up date prices on the materials to
be used for community development, so that this may be included in the recommen-
dation to City Council for expenditure of funds.
• During the discussion of Capital Improvements at the Council meeting on July 17,
residents from the Azule Park area requested that consideration be given to a
paved path being constructed between the Azule Park site and Kevin Moran Park.
The City Manager would like the Commissions opinion of the concept, and if
favorable we will obtain an estimate of cost and work with the State Division
of Highways for an encroachment permit.
It has been recommended that a joint meeting of City Council, Planning Commission
and Parks and Recreation Commission be held to make a recommendation on the Open
Space Action Program for Santa Clara County. I realize we had scheduled review
of this the first meeting in September, but the suggestion is that all recommen-
dations from the City be brought up, discussed, and sent as a unit. The tentative
date for this meeting is Tuesday, August 27, 1974, and I need your opinion to re-
lay to the City Manager. It is also my understanding that a member of the Planning
Policy Committee or staff be invited to attend this meeting.
SDR 1138 is a planned development of Avco Development, adjacent to Kevin Moran
Park, and I want the Commission to review same.
I will report to you the status of the lease with Saratoga Senior Little League
and the final 1974-75 Capital Improvement program as approved by Council July 17.

Re: Trail Dedication - Tract No. 5575
Gentlemen:
At the time of our meeting with the Parks & Recreation Commission there was
discussion concerning the reimbursement to Dividend Industries, Inc. for the
rather extensive amount of land which was being requested for the trail ease-
ment across the Pace property. It was then decided that since much of the
easement would be utilizing the existing street dedication that the proposed
Waiver of Park in Lieu of Fees would adequately compensate us for any dedication
we would have to make.
• This morning, I received a letter from MacKay & Somps, our Engineer, a copy of
which is enclosed, pointing out that under the Saratoga Subdivision Ordinance,
we would be required to dedicate 1.2% of the gross area, or approximately 6,300
square feet of land. The amount of land requested by the City for trail easements
across the Pace property amounts to approximately 15,500 square feet, a difference
of 9,200 square feet.
This letter then is to request that the Parks & Recreation Commission consider some
form of payment for the proposed dedicated area exceeding the area required by the
Subdivision Ordinance. This could be either an outright cash settlement, based
on the per-square-foot cost, which we are paying for the property, or in the form of
a credit from the City under our Improvement Contract.

Dear Walter:
In response to your inquiry regarding the park dedication requirements
of Tract~No. 5575, we submit the following information:
1. Based on the Subject Tracts net density of one unit per 0.7 acres ,~-
the park dedication prescribed by the Cite of Saratoga Subdivision
Ordinance is 1.2% of the gross area of the subdivision. This amounts "~
to approximately 6300 square feet of land. ~3
