TO: Parks and Recreation Commission
FROM: Barbara Sampson
SUBJECT: September 23 Agenda
DATE. September 19, 1974
Preparation for the Brookglen fence building is progressing well. All materials
have been ordered and staff items coordinated. It has been determined that we
will not be able to place the chain link fence on posts the same weekend due to
the necessity of cement hardening prior to stress being agplied, but other work
may take the better portion of the day, especially the application of stain on
the fresh redwood,. I have enclosed a copy of the bids received for materials,
and they are actually lower than anticipated. We have $2,650 in the budget,
and after all equipment has been rented, we may have sufficient funds to pur-
chase a picnic table. We should finalize all details at this meeting.
I have discussed the issue of understanding trail dedication, park in-lieu fee's,
etc. with the City Attorney and the Director of Planning and it has been suggested
the best way for the Commission to obtain this information is to start with the
Subdivision Ordinance. As a result, Assistant Planner Don Burt will attend this
meeting to provide us with some answers. Mr. Burt, at present, is in charge of
the Subdivision Committee and is more familiar with fts ramifications than other
staff. An actual legal opinion can only be given on a specific issue.
The City has been contacted by the Fremont Union High School District regarding
the school owned property we refer to as Fremont Park. I will have more infor-
mation for you by Monday night, but it seems that the District will be declaring
it excess and unnecessary for a school site.
