MEETING MINUTES

I. ORGANIZATION
A) Roll Call
Commission: Present: Clabeaux, Olsen, Swan, Whitney

B) Reporting of Posting of Agenda
Staff Paula Reeve reported that pursuant to Government Code
54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was posted on the City Hall
Kiosk on October 17, 1997
II. NEW BUSINESS
A.) Walk through Inspection to Develop a Master Plan for Improvements to
the Community Center and Senior Wing
1. Staff Joan Pisani submitted a list of Community Center remodeling
priorities based on input from Recreation Department ~ staff.
Commissioners and staff walked through the Community Center to
observe these recommended changes.
Further suggestions include:
Ladies Room: Additional toilets and possible dressing
enclosure/shower.
Pre-school Room: Extend room out beyond sliding glass doors
and provide access area to drop off/pick-up
children.
Dance Studio: Blinds on windows, provide storage area
along wall, improve ventilation.
Senior Center: Update bathroom, ADA entrance door, paint
kitchen and provide wrack, install patio
w/railing, sliding glass door and railing,
• build additional storage area on exterior of
building near patio.

RE: COMMISSION INTERVIEWS
Finance Committee - Last interview
Gary Wolfe is now available to be interviewed on November 5
before the Council meeting. He is the last person remaining
to interview for this committee, since Roten, Streit, and
Chang have already been interviewed. As you know, there are
three seats vacant.
You and I had talked about putting this vacancy under "Other"
at the end of the agenda, but since we can now take care of
the interview I believe that won't be necessary. Let me know
if I have misunderstood.
Parks and Recreation Commission - Last interview; continued
recruitment
Barbara Olsen (an incumbent reapplying for her own seat) is
also available to be interviewed on November 5 before the
Council meeting. She is the last person to interview for this
commission, since Luetz withdrew, and Ioannou and Crotty have
already been appointed to Weiner and Crotty's seats.
However, I am continuing to advertise to fill Blomquist's
seat. (This is the seat Luetz could have filled if she had
not withdrawn. ) We have had no new applicants, and I am afraid
it might take a while to come up with another one. But as far
as I can see there is no need to delay reappointing Olsen if
the Council wishes to.
The exact time of these interviews will depend on whether there ~s
a closed session before the November 5 meeting. I will keep you
informed.

_ RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
COMMENDING BARBARA DUTRA
WHEREAS, Barbara Dutra has served on the Parks and Recreation
Commission since 1992, during which time many important matters were
considered by the Commission, and
WHEREAS, Barbara participated in a number of these matters, including
the inception and completion of Beauchamps Park, Ravenwood Park, and
the Wildwood Park improvements, and
• WHEREAS, Barbara also served the commission itself by participating in
the Community Parks and Recreation Facility Task Force Workshop and the
=Creek Beautification Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that
BARBARA DUTRA
is hereby commended and heartily thanked for her years of service on
the Parks and Recreation Commission.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 18th day of September,
1996, by the following vote:
