RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF TttE CITY OF SARATOGA
REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA STATE LEGISLATURE TO ENACT
ENABLING LEGISLATION RELATIVE TO A VEHICLE USE FEE
TO FINANCE A REGIONAL HIGHWAY SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara and the sixteen incorporated
Cities of the County of Santa Clara have adopted a County-wide expressway
system and have completed the financing of the first phase of the system
at a cost of 70,000sO00 dollars; and
WHEREAS, there is strong interest in Santa Clara County to continue
with its highway program; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to finance additional portions of the County-
wide expressway system with user-related funds in lieu of ad valorem taxes~
NOWs THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVEDs that the City of Saratoga does hereby
support the concept of a special vehicle use fee to finance additional
portions of the County-wide ttighway System and does urge and request the
California State Legislature to enact enabling legislation which would
authorize Santa Clara County to exercise the option of levying such a
fee for the purpose of financing a COunty-wide Highway System.
The above resolution was duly and regularly introduced and passed by
the Council of the City of Saratoga at its regular meeting on March 1, 1967
by the following vote:
