RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SARATOGA
ADOPTING BUDGET FOR EXPENDITURE OF
FUNDS ALLOCATED PROM THE STATE HIGHWAY FUND TO CITIES
WHEREAS a master agreement has been executed by the
City of Saratoga , hereinafter referred to as the
City, and the State Department of Public Works, Division of
Highways, hereinafter referred to as the Department, on
March 8 , 19...6~..., for expenditure of State-allocated
funds; and
WHEREAS a project statement has been prepared and
was submitted to the Department on February 3 , 1967
showing the estimated expenditures of such funds recommended
to be made during the 196Z-68 fiscal. year; and
WHEREAS a budget approved by the Department on
March 6 , 196Z has been presented to the City Council
in accordance with the project statement submitted by the City;
and
WHEREAS the City Council has considered said budget,
as approved by the Department, and is familiar with the contents
thereof;
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council that said
budget be and is hereby adopted as the budget of expenditures
recommended to be made from such funds during the 1967-68 fiscal
year.

lIESOLUTION OPPOSING PAVemENT OF COMPEN~ FOR
REMOVAL OF CERTAIN OUTDOOR ADVERTISI SIGNS,
DISPLAYS AND DEVICES
I~tEKEAS~ the Congress of the United States has h~r. ~ofore enacted the High,~ay
Beautification Act of 1965 for the purpose of pro' .ding for scenic development
and road beautification of the federal-state hig] systems and that such AcE
contemplates and requires action by the several tares: and
WHERi~S, Section 1 (g) of the Act requires of compensation upon the
removal of certain ut~oor advertising signs~ lays .and devices, such com-
pensation to be shar by the federal gore ~?~nt and the States; and
~{EREAS, with respect to he State of Cali irnia,' payment of compensation. for
under the police power of State;
h~IEREAS, over a period of many police po~er of the States has become
and now is ~he ~ell established cially recognized means of enforcing
zoning and similar land use control , accordingly, the compensation pro-
vision in the Act is likely to confus~ .undermine established practices and
procedures,
NOW, THEREFOREs BE IT RESOLVED by :ouncil of the City of Saratoga that
=his body hereby declares its oppo~ tion to ection 131 (g) of Public Law 89-285,
the Highway 3eautification Act of and ~ es the Congress to delete said
provision by appropriate to the Act
