HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 381 RESOLUTION NO. 381 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA REQUESTING THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE TO REPEAL CERTAIN SECTION OF THE LABOR CODE RELATING TO PUBLICATION OF PREVAILING WAGES WHEREAS, Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California requires that "The body awarding any contract for public work, or otherwise undertaking any public work, shall ascertain the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the public work is to be performed for each craft or type of workmen needed to execute the contract, and shall specify in the contract itself, what the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for legal, holiday, and overtime work in the locality is for each craft or type of workmen needed to execute the contract.", and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saratoga is of the opinion that mandatory establishment of a general prevailing wage scale for public works projects is an unnecessary interference with labor-management relations, NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby call upon the Legislature of the State of California to repeal Section 1773 of the Labor Code. The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and passed by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the 4th day of October, 1967, by the following vote: AYES: Glennon, Tyler, Hartman, Burry, Robbins NOES: None ATTEST: .'~ t '/ .
