HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 465 RESOLITrION NO. 465 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA URGING THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXPAND SANBORN PARK TO ITS ORIGINALLY PLANNED 120 ACRES AND PROVIDE SUFFICIENT MONIES FOR ITS DEVELOI~ENT WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara owns Sanborn Park, a 65 acre rectangular tract of land located less than one half mile south of Congress Springs Road, immediately east of Sanborn Road; and WHEREAS, the 1959 bond issue provided monies for the purchase of a total park area of 120 acres; and WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors has not yet approved purchase of more than the 65 acres; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County be advised of the approval and support of the City Council of the City of Saratoga of the recommendations of the Saratoga Parks and P~creation Commissinn that Sanborn Park be expanded to its originally planned 120 acres and that sufficient monies be provided for its development. 2. That said Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby, requested to include funds for the acquisition of the additional acreage and for the develonment of the park in the forthcoming County Park Bond proposals. 3. That said Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby, urged to consider the importance of this park as a quiet, forested oasis, suitable for walking, hiking, and as a peaceful retreat available to everyone in this highly urbanized County. The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and passed by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the 6th day of November, 1968, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Tyler, Robbins, Dwyer, Sanders, Smith NOES: None ABSENT: None ATTEST: / CITY CL
