HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 515 RE SOLUTION NO. 515 RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENTION TO CONDUCT STUDY FOR THE PURPOSE OF QUALIFYING HIGHWAY 9 FROM ROUTE 35 TO ROUTE 85 IN SARATOGA FOR DESIGNATION AS AN "OFFICIAL STATE SCENIC HIGHWAY". WHEREAS, the above portion of Highway 9 is a part of the State of California Master Plan for Scenic Highways, and WHEREAS, the above road is designated as a Scenic Highway in the Trafficways portion of the Circulation Element of the General Plan of Santa Clara County, as amended August 1'7, 1965, and WHEREAS, the existing superb natural beauty of its surroundings, the manner in which it has heretofore been developed, and the land use ordinances and other controls which have been placed on the roadside, qualify this road as an official scenic highway, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby declare its intent to institute, in cooper- ation with the State of California and the County of Santa Clara, a study leading to qualifying the above portion of Highway 9 as an "Official State Scenic Highway" and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a notice of the intent to conduct this study be sent to the District Engineer, State Division of Highways, with a request that he assist the local jurisdiction in initiating the study in accordance with the procedure outlined in Chaper 2 of "The Scenic Route / A Guide for the Designation of an Official Scenic Highway", State of California, Transportation Agency, Department of Public Works. The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and passed at a regular meeting of the City Council of this City of Saratoga held on the 19th day of November, 1969, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Tyler, Dwyer, Robbins, Smith, Sanders NOES: None ABSENT: None MAYOR /C~TY CLERK v /
