HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 526 ORIGINAL CITY OF SARATOGA RESOLUTION N0. 526 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL BOND ELECTION WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DIRECT PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD JUNE 2, 1970. WHEREAS, the City Council (hereinafter sometimes called the "Council") of the City of Saratoga (hereinafter called the "City") in Santa Clara County (hereinafter called the "County"), State of California, has heretofore duly nassed a resolution of public interest and necessity prelimi- nary to the adoption of an ordinance calling a special municipal bond election in the City to be held on Tuesday, June 2, 1970, at which will be submitted to the Qualified electors of the City a measure for incurring bonded indebt- edness of the City as hereinafter set forth; and WHEREAS, a State of California Direct Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 1970, and it is the desire of the Council that said special municipal bond election be consolidated with said primary election; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Saratoga, as follows: Section 1. Said snecial municipal bond election is hereby called to be held in said City and the same shall be consolidated with the State of California Direct Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, June 2, 1970, at which election shall be submitted to the aualified electors of the City the followinn measure, to wit: : CITY OF SARATOGA BOND MEASURE : : : : : : : : : : : : MEASURE ( ): Shall the Cit.v of : : : : (~eighborhood Saratoga incur a : : : : Park Facilities) bonded indebtedness : YES: : : in the principal : : : : amount of $88~,000 for the acquisition, : : : : construction and completion of the fol- : : : : lowing municipal improvement, to wit: : : : : Neighborhood park facilities, including : : : : acquisition of land for neighborhood : : : : park sites and preservation of open : : : : spaces and the development of neighbor- : : : : hood park sites by grading, landscaping : NO : : : and installation of recreational facil- : : : : ities and furnishings; and other works, : : : : property or structures necessary or con- : : : : venient for neighborhood park facilities : : : : for the City of Saratoga? : : : : : : : : : _: : SeCti..o.~...2. The Board of Supervisors of the County is hereby requested to order the consolidation of said special municipal bond election with said primary election to be held on Tuesday, June 2, 1970, insofar as the City is concerned, and to further provide that within the territory affected by said order of consolidation, to wit, the City, the election precincts, polling places and voting booths shall in every case be the same, and there shall be only one set of election officers in each of said precincts. Said measure for in- curring bonded indebtedness heroinabove set forth shall be set forth in each form of ballot to be used at said election insofar as the same is held within the City. Said Board of Supervisors of the County is further requested to order the Registrar of Voters of the County (i) to set forth on all sample ballots relating to said consolidated elections, to be mailed 2 to the qualified electors of the City, said measure herein- above set forth, and to mail with said sample ballots to said electors printed copies of the tax rate statement and arguments (if any) for and against said measure, and (ii) to provide absent voter ballots for said primary election and said special municipal bond election consolidated there- with for use by qualified electors of the City who are entitled thereto, in the manner provided by law. Section B. Said Board of Supervisors of the County is hereby further authorized to canvass, or cause to be can- vassed, as provided by law, the returns of said special municipal bond election with respect to the votes cast on said measure and to certify such canvass of the votes cast for and against said measure to the Council. Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify to the due adoption of this resolution and to transmit a copy hereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors of the County and to file a copy hereof so certi- fied with the County Clerk of the County.
