A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A CONTRIBUTION FROM THE REFERENDUM COMMITTEE
FOR USE IN THE WIDENING AND BEAUTIFICATION OF PROSPECT ROAD
WHEREAS, in 1960, the citizens of Saratoga, San Jose and Santa Clara County
living in areas on the north and south side of Prospect Road, joined together in
opposition to zoning they felt detrimental to their neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, these citizens met the challenge of proposed zoning which would
have been injurious to their immediate cou.~nity; and
WHEREAS, they were successful in creating a Referendum Fund to provide a
war chest for their zoning battles; and
WHEREAS, they now anticipate an extended period of peace, free from worry
ov~ impending commercial encroachments; and
IIHEREAS, these citizens have determined that the balance in the Referendum
Fund be distributed among the cities of Saratoga and San Jose and the County of
Santa Clara to further the widening and beautification of Prospect Road;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Saratoga does hereby acknowledge the active participation in conmunity affairs
exemplified by those who participated in the work of the Referendum Committee and
does hereby gratefully acknowledge the contribution of a share of the Referendum Fund
to Saratoga and does agree to use that contribution toward the widening and beautification
of Prospect Road.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council
of the City of Saratoga, at a regular meeting held on the 20t~ day of__~,
1971, by the following vote:
