HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 557 RESOLUTION NO. 557 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA RECOGNIZING DISTINGUISHED SERVICE RENDERED TO THE CITY OF SARATOGA BY DR. THEODORE M. NORTON WHEREAS, Dr. Theodore M. Norton served with distinction on the Planning Commission from March, 1963, until January 1971; and WHEREAS, Ted Norton brought with him to the Planning Commission the broad knowledge of local government acquired through extensive academic preparation and experience in the field of political science; and WHEREAS, Ted Norton also was able to provide wise counsel to the Planning Commission as a result of his training as an Attorney-at-Law; and WHEREAS, Ted Norton had the ability to translate his academic training and experience in political science and law to practical application in his service on the Planning Commission; and WHEREAS, Ted Norton, as Commission Chairman, led the Planning Commission through numerous difficult meetings and complicated public hearings during a period of rapid growth of Saratoga; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby extend to Ted Norton the gratitude of the Council for his long and devoted service on the Commission, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council does hereby express on behalf of the citizens of Saratoga the appreciation of all Saratogans for the long hours, the extensive knowledge and the unselfish service which Ted Norton has given to Saratoga. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Saratoga, at a regular meeting held on the 20th day of January , 1971, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Robbins, Smith, Dwyer, Sanders, Bridges NOES: None ABSENT: None MAYOR ATTE S T: cLERK
