A RESOLUTION OF TIIE CITY COUNCIL OF T~ZE CITY OF
:SA~ATDJSA ___ SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A MID-PENINSULA
REGIONAL PARK ~ND OPEN SPACE DISTRICT.
RESOLVED, by the Ci.ty Council of the City of
California, that
WHEREAS, there is now pending a proposal for formation of a
Mid-Peninsula Regional Park and Open space District pursuant to the
provisions of Article 3, Chapter 3, Division 5' of the California
Public Resources Code (corm. menci~g at Section 5500), and
WHEREAS, this proposal appears to present a practical and
workable procedure to forestall the rapid disappearance of open space
in the Mid-Peninsula-~particularly the foothills overlooking the
communities to be included in the district, and
~IEREAS it is deemed that this proposal should be placed
before the voters at' the earliest possible time,
NOW, .THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City Of__IARATOGA .... that. said Council does hereby urge favor~b!e
consideration of this proposal by the public and does further request
favorable action by the Boards of Supervisors and the Local Agency
Formation Conm~issiors of the counties of san Mateo and Santa Clara,
so as to place this proposal before the voters of the proposed
dis'trict at the earliest possible time, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and he is
hereby directed to forward one certified.copy of this Resolution to
each o~ the Clerks of the Boards o~ Supervisors and of the Local
Agency FOrmation Commissions of the Counties of 'San Mateo and~ santa
clara.
