A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA URGING THE BOARD OF
SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF SANTA CLARA TO ADOPT AN ACCELER-
/[TED SCHEDULE OF bIEETING THE CAPITAL NEEDS OF THE SANTA CLARA
FREE LIBRARY SYSTEM
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga has recognized the pressing need in expanded
library facilities; and
WHEREAS, to fulfill this need Mayor Charles Robbins called a meeting of the
Mayors and City Managers of the nine cities to discuss a proposed library building
schedule; and
WHEREAS, the representatives of the cities in this discussion recognized
that the proposed schedule was inadequate to meet the needs of the communities
now or in the near future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Sara-
toga does urge the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara to take
the necessary steps to accelerate the proposed library building construction
schedule to provide for the completion of buildings required to meet the library
needs within the near future;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
requests the Board of Supervisors to hold a study session with the interested
cities and the County Library Commission to discuss achieving an accelerated
program of capital improvement.
The above and foregoing resolution was duly and regularly introduced and
passed by the City Council, City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the
21st dayo~ April, 1971, by the following vote:
