HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 611 RESOLUTION NO. 611 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA DECLARING CHARLES H. ROBBINS TO BE AN OFFICIAL MUNICIPAL ASSET AND RESOURCE WHEREAS, CHARLES H. ROBBINS as chairman of the Management Committee and later as Mayor led the Council through many a budget session into the early hours of morning with his mind unwearied by the late hour and the complexities of municipal financial legerdemain, always insisting that each budget item be examined, thus evoking great admiration and occasion- al despair from his colleagues; and WHEREAS, his great interest in the community led to his becoming chairman of the Citizens CoEmnittee ~or a parks Bond Issue and later, while Mayor, the first development of two city parks occurred; and the water ran once again over the falls at Hakone Gardens; and WI4EREAS~ he has been a source of unity on the Council when there was diversity of thought and proposed course of action, it was through his calmness and cool that he maintained the peace; and WHEREAS, as Mayor he has been a leader not only for the City Council, but for the entire community, expressing those concerns and values which he felt important for the maintenance of Saratoga's character; and WHEREAS~ his great diligence and faithfulness in performance of his duties as Councilman and Mayor was a gift of himself to all the people of Saratoga that has been gratefully accepted but can only be fully ap- preciated by those who served with him; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby declare CHARLES H. ROBBINS to be an official municipal asset and resource and to retain his services does hereby appoint him a Special City Consultant at double the salary he did re- ceive from the City as Mayor and Councilman. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a special meeting of the City Council which was held on the 18th day of April, 1972, by the following vote: NOES: None AYES: JEROME A.
