A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
TME CITY OF SARATOGA COMMENDING
JEAN WOODWARD
~tEREAS the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce annually conducts an intensive
and thorough search prior to selecting one of the City's outstanding citizens as
Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, The Citizen of the Year award is accorded the individual who
exemplifies the spirit of selfless giving and is one who offers an on-going
committment of time, energy and activity in seeking to make this a better com-
munity for all; and,
WHEREAS~ Jean Woodward has distinguished herself as an involved, caring,
and interested Saratogan who more than fulfills the exacting guidelines for the
receipt of this honor; and
WHEREAS~ Jean has been deeply and actively involved in community and
civic affairs for the 15 years she resided in the City through her current
volunteer service as Outreach Coordinator at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church.
her involvement from 1961-1974 at Eastfield Children's Center for emotionally
handicapped children where she served as Treasurer, 1st Vice President~ 2nd Vice
President, and President-Elect, her tenure on the PTA Comittee and Board of
Argonaut, Congress Springs, and Redwood Schools, and her service as President
of the Saint Andrews Episcopal Church Women from 1966-1968, as well as her parti-
cipation in the American Indian Program from 1968-1971; and
WHEREAS. Jean's manifold talents have been employed by the City where
she has served as Planning Commissioner since 1973, as member of the Parks and
Recreation Commission from 1970-1973 and as Chairperson of the Commission in the
final year, on the Citizen~s Committee on Parks and Recreation in 1962/and as a
member of the Trails and Pathways Task Force appointed in 1974;
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Saratoga does hereby extend its congratulations to Jean Woodward for being named
"1974 CITIZEN OF THE YEAR"
and thanks her for her contributions to the community in the past and present~
and the involvements she will undertake in the future.
The above and foregoing resolution was adopted by the City Council of
the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the 16th day of April, 1975~
by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmen Bridges, Brigham, Kraus, Corr & Matteoni
