RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA REQUESTING
T}~ BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TEE SANTA CLARA COUNTY TRANSIT DISTRICT
TO PROVIDE FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF THE 1976 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
WITH THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY TRANSIT DIS*ERICT SPECIAL TAX AUTHORIZATION
ELECTION TO BE HELD MARCH 2, 1976
WHEREAS, the City Council (hereinafter sometimes called the "Council") of
the City of Saratoga (hereinafter called the "City") in Santa Clara County (hereinafter
called the "Count~'), State of California, intends to hold a General Municipal Election
for the selection of t~o members of the Council on Tuesday, March 2, 1976, which is in
conformance with the established election date in 1976 for general law cities; and
WHEREAS, a Santa Clara County Transit District Special Tax Authorization
Election will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 1976, and it is the desire of the Council
that said General Municipal Election be consolidated with said Special Tax Authorization
Elect t~a;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Saratoga
as follows:
SECTION 1: Said General Municipal Election is hereby called to be held in
said City and the same shall be consolidated with the Santa Clara County Transit District
Special Tax Authorization Election to be held on Tuesday, March 2, 1976, at which
election shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City the choice of selecting
two members of the City Council.
SECTION 2: The Board of Supervisors of the Santa Clara County Transit District is
hereby requested to order the consolidation of said General Municipal Election with said
Special TaxAuthorization Election to be held on Tuesday, March 2, 1976, insofar as the
City is concerned, and to further provide that within the territory affected by said
order of consolidation, to wit, the City, the election precincts, polling places and
voting booths shall in every case be the same and there shall be only one set of election
officers in each of said precincts. The names of candidates for election to the two City
Council seats shall be set forth in each form of ballot to be used at said election insofar
as the same is held within the City.
Said Board of Supervisors of the Santa Clara County Transit District is further
requested to ask the Registrar of Voters of the County, (i) to set forth on all sample
ballots relating to said consolidated elections, to~e mailed to the qualified electors
of the City, the list of candidates for the Council seats along with the Statement of
Qualifications submitted and (ii) to provide absent voter ballots for said Special
Tax Authorization Election and said GeneralMunicipal Election consolidated therewith
for use by qualified electors of the City whosreentitled thereto, in the manner provided
by law.
SECTION 3: Said Board of Supervisors of the County is hereby further
authorized to canvass, or cause to be canvassed, as provided by law, the returns of said
General Municipal Election with respect to the votes cast for said officers and to
certify such canvass of the votes to the Council.
SECTION 4: The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to certify to the
due adoption of this resolution and to transmit a copy hereof so certified to the Board
of Supervisors of the County and to file a copy hereof so certified with the County
Clerk of the County.
