HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 754 RESOLUTION NO. 754 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA TO SUPPORT AND ENDORSE THE CALIFORNIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT RECREATION PROGRAM BILL AB 997 (Z'berg) AND SB 174 (Roberti) AND REQUESTING ASSEMBLYMEN AND SENATORS REPRESENTING SARATOGA GIVE THE BILL FAVORABLE CONSIDERATION IN THE LEGISLATURE WHEREAS, there is a high concentration of urban social problems in California's major metropolitan areas which can be partially alleviated by increased recreation oppor- tunities; and WHEREAS, by 1980, the need for local recreation area facilities and programs will be nearly twice as great as presently required; and WHEREAS, by 1980, unless the lands and waters that hold recreation potential today are acquired or reserved for recreation as soon as possible, there will be a marked shortage of recreation lands and waters on a local and regional basis; and WHEREAS, cities, counties, and districts must exercise constant vigilance to see that the recreation lands and facilities they now have are not lost to other uses; they should take steps to improve the facilities they now have; and WHEREAS, in view of the foregoing, the Legislature declares that an aggressive, coordinated, funding program for meeting existing and projected local recreation demands must be implemented without delay; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA does hereby support and endorse the California Local Government Recreation Program Bill AB 997 (Z'berg) and SB 174 (Roberti) and requests Assemblymen and Senators representing the City of Saratoga give the Bill favorable consideration in the Legislature; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA requests the Honorable Governor of California to give the Bill favorable consideration. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Saratoga held on the 17th day of December , 1975, by the following vote:
