RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA -
APPROVAL/CONCURRENCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN THE
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR SANTA CLARA COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Nejedly-Z'Berg-Dills Solid Waste Management and Resource
Recovery Act of 1972 (hereafter referred to as the Act) requires each County
in cooperation with affected local jurisdictions to prepare a comprehensive,
coordinated Plan for the mangement of solid wastes, and
WHEREAS, this City has participated in the preparation of the Solid
Waste Management Plan for Santa Clara County through its elected officials
(the Planning Policy Committee for Santa Clara. County and the Board of
Supervisors) and staff (the Solid Waste Management Study Technical Advisory
Committee) over the past two years, and
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga recognizes the need for coordination
and planning of future solid waste management activities, both locally and
regionally in accord with the Act, and
WHEREAS, participation in a joint effort for short-,mid- and long-
range solid waste management planning will be for the express purpose of
enhancing the existing system and deriving optimum benefits from resources
recoverable from the waste stream, and
WHEREAS, the City of Saratoga has reviewed said Plan with specific
reference'to the objectives of the Plan, the methods and/or organization
for implementation of the program, the procedures for financing the recom-
mended program and the role identified for this City in the Plan;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Saratoga concurs in the principles and objectives of the Plan for the pur-
poses of Section 66780, California State Government Code.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is directed to forward a
certified copy of this Resolution to the Santa Clara County Board of
Supervisors.

thereafter passed and adopted on the 4th day of Februar.y ..... , 1976,
by the following vote at a regular City Council Meeting of the City of
Sarato ga.
