HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 798 RESOLUTION NO. 798 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA COMMENDING THE SARATOGA BI-CENTINNIAL CO~4ITTEE WHEREAS, the Saratoga Bi-Centennial Committee was formed nearly two years ago by this City Council to guide the City's official celebration of our nation's 200th anniversary; and WHEREAS, the Committee immediately set about its task by planning and conducting a series of events for 1976, which entailed painstaking hours of work and a dedicated spirit of volunteerism on behalf of each of its members; and WHEREAS, the Bi-Centennial Committee's efforts were highlighted by a community celebration and good, old-time festival sponsored by the group at Saratoga Springs in April 1976, an all-day event attended by nearly 1,000 Saratogans; and WHEREAS, the Committee also developed a walking tour map of the historical sites in the Village area, participated in the dedication of the Saratoga Historical Park on July 4, 1976, sponsored a poppy-seed planting on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and took part in the 1976 Fall Festival; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby thank each of the members of the Bi-Centennial Committe~, anti.~ its officers George Y~alen, Sheila Held and Bill Giannini, for their selfless efforts and their success in fostering a spirit of conrnunitlT for %~ich ~nch of ~ is richer. The above and foregoing resolution was adopted by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at a regular meeting held on the 15th day of December, 1976, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Bridges, Brigham, NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Matteoni City Cle
