HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 829 KESOLUTION NO. 829 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA COMMENDING THE UNION OF AMERICAN HEBREW CONGREGATION'S "CAMP SWIG" WHEREAS, The Union of American Hebrew Congregation's CAMP SWIG, established in Saratoga in 1953 is celebrating its 25th anniversary; and WHEREAS, CAMP SWIG is recognized as a valuable community resource which has provided a summer h~ue. for more than 20,000 youngsters, and during the winter months served as a community retreat center for 10,000 people from Saratoga and beyond; and WHEREAS, in its capacity as an educational institution, CAMP SWIG'S alumni have gone on to become Rabbis, Educators, Community Leaders and Supporters; and WHEREAS, the camp's educational programs have served to raise the level of Community sensitivity to such issues as the elderly, the poor, the handicapped, oppressed minorities in America and around the world, and additionally extended the opportunity for community groups to utilize the camp facilities for leadership training, police department seminars, youth symphonies, and for religious groups of all sects; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby commend the Union of American Hebrew Congregation's CAMP SWIG on the anniversary of its 25th year of community service, and its dedication to the goal of harmonious human existance. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Saratoga at its regular meeting held on the 17th day of August, 1977 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmen Corr, Kraus, Bridges, & Matteoni NOES: None ABSENT: Co%~D_c-ilmau Brigham MAYOR ATTEST: CITY CLERK
