HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 987 RESOLUTION NO. 987 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA COMMENDING RICHARD G. ROSE WHEREAS, Richard G. Rose served on the Saratoga Library Commission from February 1978 to January 1981; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rose served as Secretary of the Commission from March 1978 to February 1980, and as Chairman of the Commission from March 1980 to January 1981; and WHEREAS, Grieg was responsive to public comment regarding need and priorities for the library services and facilities; and WHEREAS, Grieg was deeply Involved with the need for funding of library services following the reduction created by the passage of Proposition 13; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rose helped to establish programs such as the policy on exhibits, gift committee, and preparation of the volunteer program, and WHEREAS, Grieg has seen the circulation of the Community Library grow to over 500,000 books per year, and has worked diligently to maintain services at the Village library, as well as the Bookmobile; and WHEREAS, Mr. Rose was instrumental in working with Friends of the libraries and provided an avenue for funding through recycling of newspapers; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Saratoga City Council commends Richard G. Rose for his dedication to the community and devotion to providing library services for Saratoga residents; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the City thanks Mr. Rose and wishes him success in his future endeavors. The above and foregoing r~solution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council on the 21st day of January , 1981 by the following vote: AYES: Counci1members Clevenger, Jensen, Mallo.ry, Watson, Mayor Callon NOES: None ABSENT: None 'MA~~ ATTEST: CI~ I. ~
