CONCERNING F~4ILY COMMUNICATION WEEK
WHEREAS, The increase in uninteded teen-age pregnacncy is posing
many risks to the health and welfare of these teenagers, their children
and families; and
WNEREAS, The growing number of teen-age births has caused a great
increase in state and federal welfare support and medical aid costs~ and
WHEREAS, The State of California Department of Health Services -- with
the support and participation of dozens of California youth, family health
and education service groups -- is sponsoring Family Communication Weeks
to be held May 10-21, 1982, to raise general awareness of the problem of
teenage pregnancy and to encourage parents to participate in community
sponsored activities to help them communicate with their children about
family values concerning sex,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Saratoga
hereby endorses and supports the objectives and goals of the Family
Communication Program and declares May 10-21, 1982 Family Communication
Weeks in the City of Saratoga.
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Saratoga urges parents
of this community t6 participate in a family communication workshop or
event of their choice during Family Communication Weeks.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular
meeting of the Saratoga City Council on 2~l.S~.day of April, 1982 ,
