WH~.REAS, KTEH-TV, Channel 54 in San Jose is one of California's
;' ' "? twelve public television stations; and
WHEREAS, since 1964, KTEH has consistently provided high quality
· :..'. '.'. "L."~'[:::[:: "?..."':'.':'-' programs designed specifically to-meet the needs of its viewing
;....-.--!,.. ......,,..~,:4;.u.:~;.~.-'-~: ::,-,'~:.:~:'?rr..
.............. , .....~...:..;~....' ..'..., '.,.: ....~ ~community; and
' WHEREAS, KTEH's outstanding record of service to the South Bay
area included broadcasting a full daytime schedule of instructional
].,,.'~. ""' programs, funded by the station's license holder -- the Santa Clara
.... County Board of Education -- and used by Elementary, Junior High, and
· High Schools throughout the County; and
WI{EREAS, KTEH acquires and ~roadcasts such highly acclaimed programs
and series as NOVA, WALL STREET ~JEEK, THE MACNEIL/LEHRER REPORT,
~... ".....~.'.:C.:./" SESAME STREET, .MASTERPIECE THEATRE and
WHEREAS, KTEH has achieved
for such programs as TOMORROW/TODAY, the science magazine which captured
six awards including an Emmy nomination for "Lasers: They come in all
..CL':'~"; sizes"; THE DAY AFTER TINITY -- a film whose list of awards included the
Prix Italia, the duPont/Columbia Award, the Peabody Award, and an Oscar

nomination; the Emmy award winning documentary THE SPIRIT OF ALLENSWORTH,
chosen best cultural/historical documentary in 1980; THE BATTLE OF
'~ "-=---':..jL]L WESTLANDS, which won duPont/Columbia Award and the George Foster Peabody
-.-:-.. Broadcasting Award; and KALEIDOSCOPE with a total of six national and
"'..'i].~-.-~.~-- '.?' ..... regional awards including an Emmy nomination; and
'?-i:]..L ' W~IEREAS, KTEH is in great need of local financial support to
continue its service to our community, a need more .critical than ever
before; and
W}tEREAS, KTEH is ~o benefit from the premiere showing of the
":~2;~:~;i~'i"~i~::i;,:;%~ '~';!i~.:' i reconn~ends to all citizens that they "adopt" KTEH and support the
............ "ANNIE" premiere benefit.
