RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
PROCLAIMING PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEEK
WHEREAS, the public schools, as the embodiment of free, universal education,
have stood as the cornerstone of our republic, serving to unify a pluralistic
society and preserve its values for over two hundred years; and
WHEREAS, the Governor of California has encouraged all school districts to
participate in special observances of Public School Month during April 1984; and
WHEREAS, the Cupertino Union School District for sixty-seven years has pro-
vided a nationally renowned educational program for the children of this city who
live within its boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the Cupertino Union School District and the Cupertino Education Associa-
tion will celebrate this Tradition of Excellence with displays of student works,
demonstrations and special programs at the Vallco Fashion Park, extending from Tuesday,
April 3 through Saturday, April 7;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
proclaims the week of April 2 through April 7, 1984, as Public Schools Week to be
celebrated throughout the broad community served by the Cupertino Union School
District and urges all citizens to visit the Vallco Fashion Park and their neighbor-
hood schools to witness the quality of education that has contributed richly to the
high standard of living enjoyed by all residents.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Saratoga, County of
Santa Clara, on the 4th day of April 1984 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Callon, Clevenger, Mallory and Mayor _Pro Ten Fanelli
NOES: None
ABSENT: Mayor F~Dyles
