CONCERNING OLDER AMERICANS MDNTH
WHEREAS, the one hundred and forty thousand Santa Clara County residents
who have reached the age of sixty represent one of our area's greatest, but
under-utilized, resources; and
'WHEREAS, the contributions already made by this generation of older persons
to the betterment of life in our con~nunity are but a hint of their potential;
WHEREAS, the older citizens continue to enrich our lives with their wisdom
and their unselfish volunteerism to help those less able to help themselves;
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to call attention to older Americans' continuing
contributions and to resolve that they enjoy rewarding, dignified lives in
the workplace and in retirement; and
WHEREAS, the City shall provide opportunities and support older persons in
order for them to continue their'contributions to their conmunity.
NOW, THEREFORE, ~E IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saratoga
does hereby proclaim the month of May, 1984, to be
OLDER AMERICANS MDNTH
in the City of Saratoga.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the City CoUncil
of the City of Saratoga at a meeting held on the 18th day of April, 1984,
by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Clevenger and Mallory and Mayor Moyles
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmembers Callon and Fanelli
