HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2282 RESOLUTION NO. 2182 COMMENDING THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF LOS GATOS-SARATOGA WHEREAS, the League of Women Votersof the United States is about to celebrate League of Women Voters Week, and WHEREAS, the League's basic purposes are to foster citizen involvement and develop citizen leaders; to help people understand public issues and how government works; to promote discussion of government policies; and to influence government policy, and WHEREAS, although the League is best known for its_voter service activities from the local to the national level, it is a true grass-roots organization open to both men and women, and its positions are arrived at only after thorough research, study and intensive discussions which lead to member consensus, and WHEREAS, this kind of study has helped Saratoga citizens become better informed on many different issues at all levels of government. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby proclaims the week of November 18-24 as LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS WEEK and commends the League for many years of non-partisan service to the people of Saratoga. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga City Council held on the 7th day of November, 1985, by the following vote: AYES: CouncilsCalico, Fanelli, Hlava, Moylesand.Mayor Clevenger NOES: None ABSENT: None Martha Clevenger Mayor ATTEST: ~raceE.
