HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2320 RESOLUTION NO. 2320 RESOLUTION 0F THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA CONCERNING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SARATOGA ON JUNE 3, 1986; ~G THE SERVICES OF THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS; REQUF~ING CONSOLIDATIC~q OF EIZL'rlONS AND SPECIFYING CERTAIN FROC~URES FCR THE GOMSOLIDATED EI~ION; AND PROVIDING FOR GIVING NOTICE OF E~F~TION WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saratoga, did, on February 25, 1986, adopt Resolution 2315 calling a special election for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City an advisory measure concerning Highway 85. NOW, TfIEREF(]IE, BE IT RESOLVED, as follows: 1. Pursuant to Section 22003 of the Elections Code, the City Council hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara to make available the services of the Registrar of Voters for the purpose of performing the usual services necessary in the conduct of the consolidated special municipal election, including the provision of election supplies and voter's pamphlets. 2. Pursuant to Elections Code Section 23300, the City Council hereby requests the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to order the consolidation of the special municipal election called with the statewide primary election to be conducted within the boundaries of the City of Saratoga on June 3, 1986, with respect to which the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors has the power to order a consolidation. The City Council further consents to and orders the consolidation of the special municipal election with the statewide primary election. Upon consolidation, the consolidated election shall be held and conducted, election officers appointed, voting precincts designated, ballots printed, polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m., ballots counted and returned, returns canvassed, and all other proceedings in connect/on with the election shall be regulated and done by the Registrar of Voters of the County of Santa Clara in accordance with the provisions of law regulating the elections so cormolidated. 3. The City Clerk be and hereby is authorized and directed to publish a notice of the special municipal election within the time and in the manner specified in the Elections Code Section 22830. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the Saratoga City Council held on the 5th day of March, 1986, by the following vote: AYES: CxDunci~rs Fanelli, Hlava, MDyles and Mayor Clevenger NOES: None ABSENT: Councilmember Callon ~~/~~~/ Mayor ~ ATTEST: Deputy City
