A RESOLUTION Ol~ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SARATOGA ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF THE UTILITY
USERS TAX FOR Tile 1986/87 FISCAL YEAR
WHEREAS, the City has established and imposed a utility users tax, as set
forth in Article 5-30 in Chapter 5 of the City Code; and
WHEREAS, Section 5-30.940 of the City Code provides for an electricity
users tax at the rate of 3-1/2% of the charges made for the consumption of electrical
energy, and Section 5-30.050 of the City Code provides for a gas users tax at the rate
of 3-1/2% of the charges made for the consumption of natural gas; and
WHEREAS, Section 5-30.140 of the City Code requires the City Council to
conduct an annual review of the utility user tax rates concurrently with the Councirs
review of the annual fiscal year operating budget of the City; and
WHEREAS, on June 4, 1986, the City Council conducted a public hearing on
the establishment of utility user tax rates for the fiscal year 1986/87, at which time
any person interested in the matter was given an opportunity to be heard; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and approved an operating
budget for the City covering the 1986/87 fiscal year which projects revenues from the
utility users tax at the existing rate of 3-1/2%; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the existing tax rate is
both necessary and adequate for the next fiscal year and ought to be continued,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Saratoga that the rate of electricity users tax set forth in Section 5-30.040 and the
rate of gas users tax set forth in Section 5-30.050 shall both be continued at 3-1/2%
during the 1986/87 fiscal year commencing July 1, 1986, and ending June 30, 1987.
Passed and adopted at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of
Saratoga held on the 4th day of June, 1986, by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Gallon, FaneHi, Hlava, Moyles, Mayor Clevenger
