REQUIRED TO ESTABLISH SI~VICE AUTHORITY FOR FREtI4AY libERtIES
e Statutes of 1985 provtdiu8 for the establishment of a
Service Authority for Freeway EmerEeucies (SAFE) if the board of supervisors
of the cotmty and a majority of the cities within the county having a
majority of the population adopt resolutions providing for the establishment
of the authority{ and
I4HERFAS, the City Council finds that a freeway emergency motorist aid system
is needed to protect the safety of motorists on freeways; and
~, the City Council finds that a freeway emerEeucy motorist aid system
is needed to reduce the time spent by law enforcemet officers responding to
routine vehicle disablements; sud
WHEREAS, SAFE will have the responsibility for implementing a freeway
emerSency motorist aid system ou the portion of the California Freeway and
Expressway System in Santa Clara County.
NOW, ~, IT IS RF~LVED AND ~ that the City Council of the City
of SeratoEa hereby requests that a Service Authority for Freeway Emergencies
he established in Santa Clara County pursuant to Section 2550 of the Streets
and HiMhways Code.
The above and foregoiu8 resolution was passed and adopted at a regular meeting
of the Saratoga City Council held ou the lath day of March, 1987, by the
followir~ vote:
