RESOLUTION NO.2467
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
COMMENDING GLADYS ARMSTRONG AS 1987 SARATOGA CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Gladys Armstrong has been named 1987 Saratoga Citizen of the Year
by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, and
WHEREAS, Gladys has earned this honor for good and sufficient reasons which
reflect her interest in and commitment to local affairs, especially those
having to do with our schools and children, and
WHEREAS, Gladys has served as a member of the Board of Directors or as
president of many local organizations, including the Good Government Group,
the American Association of University Women, Mayor Cole Bridge,s Blue
RibbOn Committee, and the Saratoga-Los Gatos League of Women Voters, and
WHEREAS, she has shown her commitment to the schools by acting as chaperone
for the high school band in Vienna and Parent Advisor of the Senior Class
and by serving on the PTA High School Board and hosting five exchange
students for American Field Service and one exchange student for the
Saratoga Sister 8ity in ~apan, and
WHEREAS, she has expressed her concern for children in other ways, such as
serving on the Ming Quong Service League, the Eastfield Children,s Center,
and as a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, and
WHEREAS, she has also maintained her interests in the general well-being
of the City by activities on the VITA Board, Saratoga Federated Church,
Friends of the Library, Village Library Task Force, and the Saratoga-Los
Gatos Red Cross Board of Directors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that
GLADYS ARMSTRONG
is hereby commended and thanked most heartily for her public spirit and
willingness to give time, energy and creativity for the good of her
community and her [ellow Saratogans.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the Saratoga
City Council at a meeting held on the 17th day of February, 198S, by the
following vote:
AYES: Councilme/nbers Anderson, Clevenger, H] ava, Moyles and Mayor Peterson
