HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2498 RESOLUTION NO, 2498 PZSOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA ORDERING AND CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF SARATOGA ON NOVEMBER 8, 1988; REQUESTING THE SERVICES OF THE REGISTRAR OF VOTERS; REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF ELECTIONS; SPECIFYING CERTAIN PROCEDURES FOR THE CONSOLIDATED ELECTION; AND PROVIDING FOR GIVING NOTICE OF ELECTION RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saratoga, County of Santa Clara, State of California, as follows: 1. Pursuant to Section 5353 of the Elections Code a special election shall be and is hereby ordered to be held in the City of Saratoga on November 8, 1988, at which election there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City the following advisory measures. A. Should the Saratoga City Council amend the freeway agreement to provide for one or more interchanges within the City? Yes No B. What is your preference for interchange location? (Choose one; you may vote on this measure regardless of your vote on the preceding measure.) 1) Prospect Road 2) Saratoga Avenue ....... 3) Quito Road 4) More than one 2. Pursuant to Section 22003 of the Elections Code, the City Council hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County to make available the services of the Registrar of Voters for the purpose of performing the usual services necessary in the conduct of the consolidated municipal election, including the provision of election supplies and voter's pamphlets. 3. Pdrsuant to Elections Code Section 23300, the City Council hereby requests the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to order the consolidation of the special municipal election hereby called with the statewide general election to be conducted within the boundaries of the City of Saratoga on November 8, 1988, with respect to which the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors has the power to order a consolidation. The City Council further consents to and orders the consolidation of the Special municipal election hereby called with the statewide general election. Upon consolidation, the consolidated election shall be held and conducted, election officers appointed, voting precincts designated, ballots 'printed, polls opened at 7:00 a.m. and closed at 8:00 p.m., ballots counted and 'returned, returns canvassed, and all other proceedings in connection with the election shell be regulated and done by the Registrar of Voters of the County of Santa Clara in accordance with the provisions of law regulating the elections so consolidated. 4. Principal arguments on the measure shall be submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on August 12; rebuttal arguments shall be submitted to the City Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on August 22. 5. The City Clerk be and hereby is authorized and directed to publish a notice of the special municipal election within the time and in the manner specified in the Elections Code Section 22830.
