HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Resolution 2516 RESOLUTION NO. 2516 COMMENDING ASSEMBLYMAN CHUCK QUACKENBUSH WHEREAS, Assemblyman Chuck Quackenbush has consistently worked with the interests of the cities in his district in mind since he was elected to the 22nd District seat in 1986, and WHEREAS, most recently, Assemblyman Quackenbush has shown his loyalty to his constituents by his successful efforts to block the Santa Clara County exemption from giving money to the cities under the trial court funding package, and WHEREAS, Assemblyman Quackenbush is now actively involved in negotiations to reach a compromise that will allow Saratoga, Santa Clara County, and the judges to receive the money they need, and WHEREAS, in the past Assemblyman Quackenbush has demonstrated expertise and initiative by writing various bills of great significance to the cities, and WHEREAS, these bills include AB 1941, which allowed cities in the Highway 85 corridor to limit large truck traffic on segments of the highway prior to signing freeway agreements, and WHEREAS, he also sponsored SB 2032, which saved millions of dollars for the Measure A traffic projects by allowing the Traffic Authority to acquire rights of way for the main line corridor of Highway 85 without freeway agreements being signed, and WHEREAS, Assemblyman Quackenbush was instrumental in assisting Saratoga in securing the first certified recycling center permits in the State under the new recycling center and deposit return legislation adopted in 1987. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saratoga commends and thanks Assemblyman Chuck Quackenbush for his yeoman efforts over the past two years on behalf of the cities of the 22nd District. The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 5th day of October, 1988, by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Cievenger, Moyles, Peters~n, Stutzman and Mayor Anderson NOES: None ABSENT: None /s/Karen P.
