'~SOLU~ION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 8AI~tTOGA
CONNENDINGDONItX, D BRITTON MILLER
AN 1988 8JtR~TO~CITIZIN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Donald Britton Miller has been named 1988 Saratoga
Citizen of the Year by the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce, and
WHEREAS, Don has earned this honor for good and sufficient
reasons which reflect his interest in and commitment to local
affairs, especially those having to do with Saratoga's cultural
and artistic life, and
WHEREAS, these contributions include service to the Valley
Institute of Theatre Arts as Board Member, fund developer, actor,
producer, and Volunteer of the Year, and
WHEREAS, his love of Japanese gardens has led to much labor in
connection with Hakone Gardens, the Japanese Bamboo Society, the
Makone Foundation, and the Sister City program, even down to
being present every day during bamboo planting at Hakone, and
WHEREAS, Don has also served the community at large through
activities with the Good Government Group and with Rotary,
including many projects and responsibilities and, in 1989,
chairing the Art Show, Rotary's largest one-day event and fund-
raiser in Northern California, and
WHEREAS, Don has also served his profession for 26 years as a
manager of research and development for IBM and as a management
consultant, aiming for innovation, productivity, and enhancing
the work life of the employee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that
DONALD BRITTON MILLER
is hereby commended and thanked most heartily for his public
spirit and willingness to give time, energy and creativity for
the good of his community and his fellow Saratogans.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 15th day of
February, 1989, by the following vote:
