IEBOLUTZON OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
CONCX~NZNG VAFaRIE YOUNG
WeElEAS, Valerie Young served the City of Saratoga as a member of
the Planning staff from July 1986 to September 1989, having served
in this capacity with distinction, and
MItEAS, as the Associate Planner in charge of advanced planning
projects, Ms. Young successfully completed numerous advanced
plannir~g projects, including amendments to the Noise Element, the
Safety Element and the Air Quality Section of the General Plan, and
WHERFA8, Ms. Young was instrumental in the effective adoption and
implementation of the Saratoga Village Plan, having produced the
Specific Plan for the Village, developed the Commercial Historic
zoning ordinances for the Village, acted as the principal staff
person assigned to the Village Design Task Force to develop the
Village Design Guidelines, and coordinated the implementation of
various public improvements for the Village with City staff,
Caltrans, and private contractors, and
WHEIEJta, Ms. Young headed the staff effort to develop the City's
first Residential Design Handbook, which document has become an
invaluable tool for the staff, the Planning Commission and
designers preparing plans consistent with the design review
objectives of the City of Saratoga, and
WHZlER2, Ms. Young effectively served as staff support to the City
of Saratoga Heritage Preservation Commission, guiding the
production of the City's first historic inventory and State
certification of the work products of the Commission, and
WHiPaXe, Ms. Young gave the City of Saratoga the benefit not only
of her professional competence, but also her cheerful perseverance
and creativity, which resulted in her being selected as a fina!ist
for both most dedicated and most innovative employee of the year by
nomination of her fellow employees, and
WHEREAS, Ms. Young is leaving the City of Saratoga to further her
professional career in the private sector.
NOW, TB~R~FOIE, B~ XT IESOLV~D that the City Council of the City of
Saratoga does hereby commend Valetie Young for her outstanding
contribution to the future welfare of the City and offers its
heartiest best wishes to her continued success as a planning
professional.
The above and foregoing resolution was passed and adopted by the
Saratoga City Council at a meeting held on the 4th day of
September, 1989, by the following vote:
